1. First place the paper under the table. You don't want any paint to spill over as it will dry and form stains on the floor. Likewise, you don't want any sawdust from the table to end up on the bare floor. Using paper makes it easy to clean up when you're done.
2. Pull out all the dresser drawers and set them aside. If you leave the drawers inside, the paint may seal them.
3. Use paint stripper to remove all paint from the surface to be repainted. There are instructions on the stripping agent bottle as to how long the stripping agent should be left in place.
4. Get 180-grit sandpaper (available from any home DIY store) and sand the area where the paint has peeled off. Afterwards, you can vacuum or clean the surface with a cloth to remove any traces.
5. Use some primer on the wood surface. If the wood has an oil-based paint, then you should use an oil-based primer. However, if you don't want to use an oil-based primer, you can also use a standard primer.
6. Let the primer dry completely before applying another coat. Then let the second coat dry as well.
7. You can now move on to painting the vanity. It is recommended to apply two coats of paint to protect the wood underneath. Allow each coat to dry properly before applying a new coat.
8.You should then apply a layer of varnish to protect the varnish underneath.
